Bringing the Super Bowl to Indianapolis in 2012
Douglas Karr at 1:58 pmI’ve been quiet about what I’ve been up late working on the last few nights… but the press conference is starting any minute now! We’re going to work hard over the next few months to bring the Super Bowl to Indianapolis in 2012.
The committee is brilliant and is enlisting everyone’s assistance! OUR2012SB.com is up - where you’ll see a portal evolve where all Indianapolis citizens can collectively spread the word, “It’s our time!”.
There’s also a higher definition of this great intro at the site.
More to come! Social networks, badges, sponsorships, volunteers… be sure to register to subscribe at Our 2012 Super Bowl!

Congrats beyond congrats dood. Soooo…this is football related stuff, right? Guess I need to get out of the basement every so often. I can’t get too far from my PC though…my…my…my preciousssssss…the precious needs time from the master…..
Wow, I love it when people think big.
If I may, some observations about the video: very well done, indeed. But after like 45 seconds, it just keeps hammering the same message: Indianapolis is capable of hosting major sport & music events. We see a lot of performers. But huge events are really about the crowds. Why not show a bit about their enthusiasm. What are the locals like, what do you have to offer for the crowd?
And some shots showing the amenities for media and VIP people probably wouldn’t hurt either.
Make the viewer feel like not only that Indianapolis is capable of hosting this event, but deserves to do so. And that the Superbowl would gain from it, too.
What you see on the site was really there before we were even in the picture, so we didn’t really have too many options. In fact, we met on Sunday (!) to put a strategy into action. The first step was to go viral with the video - next was to begin seeding the local social networks with conversation about the event. The committee really wants the region to be part of it this time.
With that said, we’re on to pushing for some integration next on the web site - pulling in feeds from local media, networks, forums, blogs… etc. into a central ‘portal’ for anything Superbowl. We’ve got a lot of work to do, but the team is up for it. My big project was getting the site SEO happy and integrated with email (still underway but there is a subscribe form integrated with ExactTarget).
Much more to come - but please keep the ideas coming!
Doug
